About Ali
Dr. Alexandria Parra's career has taken her around the globe. She has performed in the U.S.A, Australia, Canada, Italy, South Korea. She served as visiting Assistant Professor of Flute at Northwestern State University of Louisiana for the 2022-2023 academic year.
She was formerly an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Utah Asia Campus in South Korea.
Ali holds a Doctorate of Music degree from the University of Utah, where she won the Robertson Prize and the 2017 Concerto Competition , as well as performance degrees from DePaul University and the University of New Mexico where she graduated summa cum laude and received the prestigious Theodore Presser award.
While interested in all types of music, Ali finds contemporary flute works particularly fascinating. She has performed several recitals and given lectures focused on extended technique repertoire and pedagogy.
Ali is a sought after teacher and clinician. She teaches lessons in-person and online and is frequently asked to adjudicate flute competitions.
Although music takes up a majority of Ali's life (in the best possible way), she also loves quaint coffee shops, long walks, travel, and true crime podcasts.
